The Cobalt is a shitty old punk bar that is directly behind my apartment. Above the bar is the nastiest crack hotel in the city. This is the back of that hotel.

The Divers

Here is a new shot from a series I've been working on for the last few years called "The Divers". For years the scuba industry was populated by middle aged, paunchy nerds with bad sense of style. It wasn't pretty.

These days there are a new generation of divers, travelers and interesting younger people who are taking over.

This is Dan. He is a diver.

pre-season anxiety

Winter has been really slow to come to British Columbia this year. I've kept myself busy with other projects, but I was really hoping to get some powder days in before Christmas in Roatan. Now it looks like that won't happen. Instead I dug into the vaults and pulled out this photo of me riding at Retallack Cat Skiing in the Kootenay's a couple years back. That's about as close as I'm going to get to the deep pow feeling until after Christmas. Still, pretty cool.

Norcal

I posted this on the blog on my website, but I'm really liking it so I'm putting it here too. Go read that post and maybe help out another Photographer here.

Murray Siple has the best house. I went over there to interview him recently. It was a perfect Fall day, we sat in the yard, had a beer, talked about his movies, the characters in "Carts of Darkness", the good old days and everything. I looked up and saw this.

Lost in the mix

Sometimes a photo languishes in the mix for awhile and never gets published despite the fact that I love it. This is one of those times. Dave Short on Whistler Mountain from the Deep Winter Photo Contest.
